An NYPD Officer Has Been Killed In a Daytime Shooting on a Brooklyn SideWalk, Police Say

It was reported on Monday that a 37-year-old man was shot in the head in front of a Brooklyn deli and died as a result of the wound. An NYPD officer responded to a call about a man who had been shot around 4:15 p.m. on Monday near the corner of Franklin Avenue and Lincoln Place in Crown Heights, where the shooting occurred, according to authorities.

That is where the police found the man who had been shot in the head with a gunshot wound to his head, according to police reports. According to a statement, his body was transported to the Kings County Hospital in New York City, where he was later pronounced dead.

According to the authorities, Nazim Berry, a young man from Cypress Hills in Brooklyn, has been identified as the victim who was shot and killed. The cold-blooded killing was carried out by one individual who fled on foot, authorities said. No arrest has been made in connection with this case. 

According to Hollie, her son has worked at the bodega for years and has previously encountered problems with customers expecting to receive free items. “I knew that it must have been over something stupid because I know the heart of my son, describing him as a beautiful person and noting that Berry had schizophrenia and had a case worker ensuring that he was doing well.

Man Killed Argument Over Cigars

 Several reports have indicated that he was shot during a dispute over a Black & Mild cigar, in which he sustained injuries as a result of being attacked.

It has been reported that Berry's 58-year-old mother, Danette Hollie, has been unable to believe that her son has died. She added that she could not think something like this was happening. The way things are going at the moment, I have a hard time believing the situation that we are in right now.

What do you mean you murdered my son because you wanted to smoke a cigarette? Are you taking Nazim away from me for the sake of a cigarette? I was wondering if you would consider this man's life as valuable to you in terms of a cigarette. ”

It was evident that officers were investigating the scene of the shooting on Monday evening, with a portion of the sidewalk in front of the corner deli being blocked off from the general public during the investigation.

“For the first time in my life, I'm hearing anything - and that's what caught my attention - this is the first time I've heard anything that sounded like a gunshot." Marks told Gothamist after listening to the sound.
